Watch Napoleon Dynamite and I will write my review - 500 words.
Jon Heder is the main character and plays the role of the title character, he was paid $1,000 in doing so. After the film's unexpected success, Jon re-negotiated his payment and in addition to his pay received a cut of the profits.[2] The film was released in 2004 (as mentioned above) on a very cheap budget however the film had a large following within a few months of its release, the film's total worldwide Gross revenue was $46,118 the film has since developed a cult following.
Napoleon Dynamite is a socially awkward and “geeky” 16-year-old boy from Preston, Idaho, who lives with his older brother, Kip Dynamite, and their grandmother. Kip is in his 30’s and is unemployed; he often talks about being on Internet chat rooms and wanting to be a cage fighter. Their grandmother lives a underground life involving mysterious boyfriends and quad-biking in the desert.
Napoleon is not very concentrated in school, he daydreams his way through, and loves to doodle his imaginary creatures, Napoleon also half-heartedly deals with a mixture of bullies who distress him. Napoleon likes to make up stories about himself whilst having a grim and distant attitude and personality.
Further on in the movie Napoleon's grandma breaks her coccyx in a quad-bike accident and asks their Uncle Rico to look after both Kip and Napoleon while she recovers. Rico is a middle-aged former athlete who lives in a Caravan; he treats Napoleon like a child. Rico already had a plan that would benefit himself which is why he took the offer to look after his nephews upon himself. He uses the visiting opportunity to team up with Kip in a get-rich-quick scheme to sell a variety of items door-to-door. Kip only wanted to be involved with the get-rich-quick-scheme so that he could make enough money to visit his Internet girlfriend LaFawnduh as he believed it was time for them to meet, while Rico believes riches will help him get over his failed dreams of NFL stardom and the loss of his girlfriend.
Napoleon becomes friends with two students at his school: Deb, a shy and reserved girl who runs a few small businesses in order to raise money for college; and Pedro, a bold yet humble transfer student from Mexico. A friendship slowly develops among the three outcasts of school. During this time, everyone began to prepare for the high school dance. Pedro asks Deb to be his dance partner, she accepts, Napoleon tries to convince a unwilling classmate called Trisha to be his date.
Motivated by an election poster at the dance, Pedro makes a decision to run for class president, pitting him up against Summer Wheatley, a popular and stuck-up girl at the school. Both Kip and Summer put up flyers to attract voters. Kip, meanwhile, is deeply in love since LaFawnduh has come to visit him. She gives Kip an urban makeover, making him look like a hip-hop artist
On the day of the class president elections, Summer gives a speech before the student body, and then presents a dance with a school club. Pedro and Napoleon then find out that a skit was also required from them, Pedro gives an unimpressive speech. Napoleon thought of a way to help his friend so he then gives the sound engineer a music tape given to him by LaFawnduh, and performs an highly structured dance routine t. Summer and her boyfriend, are unimpressed, but the routine receives a standing ovation from all the other students and Pedro receives the role of class president
